Winning Entry

Harry Potter and the Final Horcrux by Kirstyn

He couldn't believe it. He was finally here. Harry looked around at what was to be his new home for a while. He was standing in the entrance of none other than Godric's Hollow, the place he had vowed to return to.
Harry put a rucksack containing a few items down on a nice, grassy part of the ground, and proceeded to walk amongst the rows of headstones that occupied a sizeable portion of the hollow. The stones were uniform in shape, size, and color; the only thing that distinguished one from the other was the tiny name inscribed upon it. Harry knew only two of the nearly one hundred people that were concealed by the earth of the hollow--his parents.
After a few minutes of wandering, Harry came across his parents' graves. They were exceptionally close to each other, since they were a married couple. Harry stared blankly at the stones for a brief moment, then sank to his knees, embraced the stones in his arms, and wept. However, these tears were mainly ones of joy--Harry had finally seen his parents again. True, they were dead, but it gave Harry an unprecedented sense of peace nonetheless.
His mind at ease and his heart content, Harry rose from the ground and started to think about the daunting task at hand--finding the last four Horcruxes. As if on cue, Harry noticed a gleaming, gold cup behind his mother's gravestone. It was emblazoned with a dark blue "H."
"Hufflepuff's cup! One of the four remaining Horcruxes!" exclaimed Harry, skeptic as to whether or not he should believe his eyes.
He approached the cup with great care, unsure of how to dispose of it. Wondering if his ability to love would come to his aid once again, Harry gingerly touched the cup. Suddenly, the cup trembled and glowed red-hot. It smoked, and then without warning, collapsed into a pile of ashes. A light breeze blew past Harry, sweeping the ashes into the distance.
As Harry's eyes followed the ashes, he noticed a snake resting behind his father's gravestone. Harry assumed that it was none other than Nagini. Harry looked the snake in the eye with a calm, kind gaze. Nagini quickly shriveled up and vanished. Harry wondered why he had suddenly stumbled upon these Horcruxes and why it was so easy to get rid of them.
"Well," Harry thought to himself, "that leaves the locket and the unknown object." Remembering the note inside the false locket stating that the real one was soon to be disposed of, Harry realized that now he was on the hunt for only one Horcrux.
"But what could it be?" he wondered aloud.
"I'm not sure, but I'm here to help you find out," said a voice from behind him. It sounded oddly familiar.
Harry whirled around and saw Dumbledore standing near his rucksack.
"Professor!" exclaimed Harry. "But you-- I thought-- How could--" sputtered Harry.
"Harry," said Dumbledore, a small smile on his lips, "you honestly thought I was dead?"
"But...how?" was all Harry could manage to say.
"Do not worry about that, Harry," said Dumbledore. "Magic can work in quite powerful--and mysterious--ways. Let us rest now, for tomorrow we shall start to look for the final Horcrux.
With that, Dumbledore proceeded to conjure a tent resembling those provided at the Quidditch Cup--it looked normal on the outside, but was extremely roomy and lavish on the inside. Harry grabbed his rucksack and followed Dumbledore into the tent.
They both sat down at the kitchen table. Harry began to pull some slightly stale crackers from his rucksack, but Dumbledore motioned for him to stop. Taking a second look at the table, Harry saw that there was a plate of steak and mashed potatoes in front of him, and Dumbledore had one, too.
"Oh, I almost forgot!" cried Dumbledore. He pointed his wand at the middle of the table, muttered something Harry couldn't quite make out, and two bottles of butterbeer appeared on the table. Harry and Dumbledore each took one.
"So Harry, please tell me, how did you manage to find and destroy those two Horcruxes?" said Dumbledore, taking a swig of his butterbeer.
"I... I'm not quite sure, sir," began Harry. "I remembered what you said about my power to love, so I touched the cup and looked at the snake, and then they simply destroyed themselves."
"Hmm, I see," said Dumbledore, a bit puzzled. "I don't understand why Voldemort would simply leave two Horcruxes lying out in the open, though. And if they had been here a while, I surely would've seen them before. I go here quite often, you see; I find this place quite relaxing."
Harry suddenly had an idea.
"Professor, could a spell have been placed upon those Horcruxes which would allow only the creator to see them?"
Dumbledore's eyes got wide, and his face took on a solemn expression.
"Why yes, I believe there is. And since you're Voldemort's equal, to a certain extent, then you could see them, too..." his voice traveled off. "Harry," he said, a tone of urgency in his voice, "your final confrontation with Voldemort is approaching. He planted those Horcruxes there because he knew you would eventually come here. He knows you're here now, Harry...we will be seeing him soon. Eat and go to bed, Harry. Now." And so the two of them quickly finished their dinners in silence, and proceeded to go to bed.
The next day, Harry woke to find Dumbledore conjuring breakfast. Harry sat across from Dumbledore at the table.
"Eat, Harry, you will need your strength. We need to find that last Horcrux as soon as we can, and we must be prepared to encounter anything," said Dumbledore.
Harry obeyed, and they soon finished their meal. Dumbledore rose from the table and cautiously stepped outside of the tent. Harry followed, his wand in hand.
"Now Harry," began Dumbledore, "it is usually not best to split up, but in the interest of time, I believe we must. I will search this part of the hollow, and you will search the part near the graves. Do you understand?"
Harry nodded.
"Good. Call me over if you find anything that looks even remotely interesting."
Harry walked over to the graves, looking behind each one in the hopes that he might find something. After nearly an hour, his search had proved to be fruitless.
"I can't find it anywhere, Professor," called Harry.
Dumbledore walked over to where Harry was standing, his face grim.
"Well, I'm afraid I have," said Dumbledore. "Neither can live while the other survives. And the last Horcrux is most likely something belonging to Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. And think... ...You are a member of Gryffindor House, so one could say that you 'belong' to Gryffindor."
"So you're saying that I... I'm the last Horcrux?..." Harry asked.
Dumbledore looked away, and Harry saw a few tears trickle down his face
"All I know about that night is that your parents were killed. I know scant details about what exactly happened to you that night. So yes, Harry, I believe you are--"
"YES, HE IS!" hissed a voice nearby. Voldemort suddenly appeared in front of them. "So, if you plan to finish me off, Albus, the boy has to go first!"
Harry, not at all sure of what he was saying, willfully succumbed.
"Go ahead, Professor," he said wistfully. "Do it. I know it's for the better."
Dumbledore looked at him, a bewildered expression upon his face. Reluctantly, and with fresh tears in his eyes, he drew out his wand.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!!!!!!" cried Dumbledore. Harry saw a blinding flash of green-yellow light, and then everything went black.
After what seemed like hours, Harry opened his eyes at last.
"So, this is Heaven?" he said groggily.
"No, silly!" replied a plump, jolly woman in a nurse's uniform. You're in St. Mungo's and you're making a splendid recovery, if I do say so myself."
Harry looked around the room, which happened to be filled with people. Ron, Hermione, Hagrid... so many faces were staring back at him, he didn't know what to do or say.
"Allow me to explain," said Hermione. "There's this type of magic that I just started to read about. If someone has died, another person can transfer their life to the body. That's what Dumbledore did for you. He gave his life for you. Or rather, to you."
"Vol--" Harry began.
"Gone," said Ron. "Totally and entirely gone."
Harry looked around the room again. His friends, the Order, Hogwarts staff, his parents...
Harry jolted when he saw his parents. His mother smiled warmly and approached Harry's bed, his father following.
"When the Dark Lord was killed, his victims returned to life," said his mother quietly.
Although he was a bit sorry for Dumbledore, Harry was overcome with joy for having his parents back. Once again, he looked at everyone in the room, this time with a smile on his face and a tear in his eye. Today was the start of a new life for him. A happier, more satisfying life, where he would never again suffer pain because of his scar.

Entry #4

I think that Harry will return to live with the Durselys one last timeas Dumbledore had asked him to. Shortly, though, Harry will receive aninvitation to live with the Weaslys for the remaining of the summer andalso to attend Bill and Fleur's wedding. All of Bill and Fleur'sfriends and families will attend, even Percy. Percy will finally admitthat he was wrong and appologize about how horrible he treated hisfamily. Mrs. Weasley will collapse in tears and hug her son. The rest ofthe Weasleys and Harry and Hermione will not be as forgiving, however. But, by the end of the summer, they will be on speaking terms and almostto how they used to be.I think that Harry will plan to not attend his seventh year at Hogwarts.Ron and Hermione, being loyal friends, will promise to accompany him onhis journey and give him assistance whenever he needs it. But, Harry,Ron, and Hermione will receive book lists in the mail and Harry willalso receive an additional letter. I think that this letter will be fromDumbledore and written before he and Harry went to destroy the lockethorcrux, from Professor McGonagall, or from Professor Lupin. I thinkthat the letter will say that Harry must attend Hogwarts for his seventhyear; it is what Dumbledore would have wanted and he wouldn't havewanted Harry to miss out on the opportunity to become an auror becausehe is no longer there to find the horcruxes himself. Harry will do asDumbledore would have wanted and attend his seventh year at Hogwarts.Harry and Hermione will accompany him. Once at Hogwarts, ProfessorMcGonagall, headmistress, will persuade Harry to tell him everythingthat went on between him and Dumbledore. Harry will tell her all aboutthe horcruxes and the trips into the pensive. Finally, Harry will tellher about his and Dumbledore's quest to destroy the locket horcrux andwhat happend once they apparated into Hogsmede. McGonagall will take upwhat Dumbledore started and with her help, the help of the order, andHermione and Ron, Harry will search for the horcruxes and try to destroythem. I think that Harry will still have help from Dumbledore.Dumbledore is still "alive" in his portrait in the headmistress's office. I think thatDumbledore can still tell Harry his ideas and who to acquire needed memories from.Even though, McGonagall is now headmistress, I think that she willcontinue to teach transfiguration. I think that Hagrid will now becomethe head of Gryfindore House. I think that Snape will come back aspotions professor because McGonagall cannot find anyone else for the joband is desperate. Also, I think that Snape has a plan and is actuallygood. I think that Snape will help Harry destroy the horcruxes and alsosave his life a few times. I think that there will be another newdefense against the dark arts teacher. I think that Harry will find anddestroy all of the horcruxes. I think that the final horcrux may be an unknownobject of Gryffindore's.Since a main character is supposed to die, I think it will be Nevil.Besides Hermione and Ron, I think that of all of Harry's friends andclassmates Neville is the most loyal to Harry. I think that Neville willwillingly die trying to save or help Harry. Neville and Luna were the onlytwo that responded to Hermione's call for help in the sixth book whileHarry and Dumbledore were away. I think that at the end of the sixthbook Nevil proved that he could be great just like his parents. Also, Ithink that Neville will be closer to Harry in the seventh book because ofthe events in the Hall of Prophecy and also of the events at the end ofthe sixth book. I think that Neville may accompany Harry in the search forthe horcruxes. If another main character dies I think that it will beSnape. I think that Rowling will give Snape the opportunity to redeemhimself by giving his life for Harry. I think that while Snape is dyinghe will tell Harry the truth about what happened when he killedDumbledore for Draco and ran away with him as well as the truth aboutwhose side he is on and everything that he did to help the order. Ithink that Harry will forgive Snape. I think that Snape might havekilled Dumbledore on Dumbledore's orders. Dumbledore doesn't seem likethe kind of guy to plead to Snape for his life. In actuality, Dumbledoremay have been pleading Snape to kill him. I think that Snape might havetold Dumbledore about the unbreakable vow and how he was supposed tohelp Malfoy if Malfoy failed. I think that Dumbledore agreed withSnape's decision to make the vow because it will keep his cover. I thinkwhen Dumbledore was lying there pleading to Snape he was actuallypleading Snape to kill him to keep his cover.I hope that in the end Harry destroys all of the horcruxes and killsVoldemort. I think that Harry will be almost near death when trying to destroy the lasthorcrux but then Fawks will come and save him with his tears.

Entry #3

I don't think that Harry Potter will return to Hogwarts in Harry Potter 7: The Deathly Hollows. I think that he will go back to his parent's house, also known as the "Deathly Hollows", to look for and try to destroy the remaining horcruxes. Harry will destroy five horcruxes but will have to destroy his parent's house, which he'd rather not do, in order to destroy the sixth and last horcruxe. I don't think that Draco Malfoy with return to Hogwarts either. I think that he will go on a secret mission for Voldemort. Harry will kill Draco and almost kill Crabbe and Goyle. I also think that Voldemort will find Percy being disloyal to him as a Death Eater and will kill him.
Some other ideas that I have are:
- Minerva McGonagall will become the headmistress of Hogwarts.
- Bellatrix Lestrange will kill Neville Longbottom because he is finding out too much about his parents'
death that she doesn't want him to know. That information will help Harry destroy one or more of the horcruxes.
- Harry will find the prophecy which will give him instructions on how to kill Voldemort forever.
- Voldemort will take over Harry's mind and will make Harry kill Hermione because she knows too much about the horcruxes. She was too smart and she knew where to find the last horcruxe. What Volemort doesn't know is that Ron has some knowledge of where the last horcruxe is from Hermione.
- Ginny Weasly will die trying to save Harry from Volemort.
- Albus Dumbuldore's spirit will come to Harry several times to help him get closer to the killing of Voldemort.
- Draco Malfoy will kill Hagrid, before Harry kills him, under Voldemorts' orders.
- Dumbuldore will speak to Harry through his mind.
- When Voldemort dies, so will his death eaters.
- Harry will go mad and kill all of the Dursley's.
- Hogwarts School will close temporarily due to death eaters and dementors lurking around at the school.
- The six horcruxes will be at the Burrow (where the Weasly's live), the Deathly Hollows (where Harry and his parents used to live), at Hogwarts, in the graveyard where Voldemort killed Cedric, in Diagon Alley, and at the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Mystery's. There is also a possibility that one of
them could be at Gringotts Bank.
- The mystery to why Harry didn't die when Voldemort tried to kill him when he was a baby will be revealed.
I think that the Harry Potter saga will end by Harry destroying all six horcruxes, causing Voldemort to die forever. I do not think that Harry will die. He will be close to death several times, but will always escape it. Since I think that Harry is going to kill the Dursley's, I think that he will live with the Weasly family for a while until futher notice of where to go.

Entry #1

I think the Harry Potter saga will end when Harry does not attend Hogwarts but Ron and Hermione do.They will send him letters to tell Harry what is going on and what their doing.(Dangers.New teachers?)Harry wants to go back to his parents house and live there alone forever.Professor Lupin does not think it is safe for Harry to be alone with Voldemort out to get him so he will live with Harry.Harry will try to find the last of the horcruxes and Dumbledore's will.He won't know where to look so he will sneak in Hogwarts with Hagrid's help and keys and look in the Mirror of Erised. He will see his parents. They will tell him riddles and clues to where the horcruxes and the will are.As he tries to ask questions they just fade away.He uses the information he has to figure out where they are.He finds them all but one.I think one is at Borgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley because it refers to Borgin not selling a mysterious item to Draco's dad in the Chamber of Secrets. What could he not want to sell? In the sixth book Harry and Dumbledore go back in time and a woman has a cup that gets lost.Since that was back in time it makes sense for Borgin to have it. It might have been stolen and givin to Borgin with a threat to guard it. I think another one might be in the Ministry of Magic. They went there in Harry Potter five. They might have seen it but not have known it was a horcrux. In my opinion that place is a bit strange and Corneilius Fudge was a little different. He could have something to do with it. Maybe Mr.Weasley could help!Another possibility is at LIly and James Potter's house.Maybe Dumbledore had gone there and kept his memory in the Pensieve.Harry could jump in and maybe see something odd that he hasn't seen before.Harry was only a baby and Voldemort expected to kill all the Potter's so why not put it there because who would know? No one would be around. It may even be under his house. Who knows?I also think Harry will fi nd Dumbledore's will.He will expect it to be for him but is surprised to see it adressed to Ron Weasley.A note will be attatched saying"To Ron Weasley.Use this to support your family and to help Harry in any way.-Professor Dumbledore"He goes back to tell the good news to Lupin and send the will to Ron.He is surprised with unexpected guests.Ron and Hermione are there to warn him that Voldemort is growing stronger even with almost all the horcruxes destroyed and is out here hiding somewhere.Ron tells him of seeing the death eaters behind the veil but not Voldemort because he is out searching for Harry.Neville will come running over to Harry's house.KNOCK!KNOCK!KNOCK!Harry opens the door and Neville walks in shouting,"Ron received a letter saying Charlie Weasley has died and Mr.and Mrs.Weasley will come to Hogwarts to get you,Ron!""What!"Ron shouted as tears filled his eyes."How did this happen?""Well,"said Neville,"Charlie was training an unknown dragon that attacked him.I'm r eally sorry Ron!"Then Harry started to scream. His scar was hurting. There was a flash of green light.Harry turned around to find himself face to face with the Dark Lord.Neville will scream and try to run away.As his back is turned Voldemort will kill him.Later he will kill Hermione."NO!!!!!!!!!!"shouted Harry.Ron,Lupin, and Harry tried to escape with Hermione's body.Lupin was to hold Voldemort off while they ran. Voldemort shouted"Avada,Kavarda!"Harry will jump in front of Lupin and will die.It was up to Ron to destroy the last horcrux. He found the locket but didn't destroy it.He will feel it is all his fault."Take this! Destroy it!"yelled Ron.He threw the locket to Lupin who crushed it.Voldemort screamed and faded away.He was dead forever. They went to Hogwarts to find Mcgonagall and the students fighting the death eaters.Draco Malfoy was fighting the Hogwarts students with his dad and Bellatrix. All the other death eaters were dead and so was Cho Chang! With his new wand,Ron ma naged to kill Lucius and Bellatrix, first try. They told of Harry and Hermione's death and also were thrilled to say Voldemort had died too.As an honor to Harry Hogwarts closed.I also think Bill Weasley and the three Dursley's will die.Bill Weasley will die at his wedding. The Dark Lord will try to kill Fleur Decluor but Bill will jump in the way and die.The Dursley's will be looking for Harry to torture him and so he will be their servant and Voldemort is looking for him too so they will meet and Petunia and and Mr.Dursley will die.Dudley is stupid and screams and then is killed.I have one more thought.I don't think Dumbledore will come back to life because he said no magic can bring anyone back to life. Also if you could come back to life Lily and James Potter probley would have.It will probley be a shock because people are always like"Of course he is not really dead." or "How could he have died?He is one of the main characters."This time it won't be the usual happy ending. What do you think?
